When you think of stretching, you may picture someone reaching back for a quick quad stretch before a run, or sitting on the ground and touching their toes after a workout. Stretching has been a component of recovery and performance programs for a long time but is still often misused or misunderstood.

Stretching can include a wide variety of techniques including movements specific to muscles, fascia, nerves, joint capsules, etc. Although most stretches are going to get all of these moving, some are better than others at targeting specific limitations you may have and maximizing the benefits you gain. There is also some science that can help guide us on the intensity and duration of these movements and stretches for the client’s particular goals.

Total Body Stretch Sessions involve therapist-assisted stretching through your full range to help ease muscle pain, decrease tension, and maintain the full range of motion of your soft tissues and joints. This can be a full visit dedicated to relaxing into your stretches and educating you on how to reproduce these at home. It can also be one of many things included in your medical massage. Our therapists have extensive continuing education in how to safely and effectively integrate the most effective stretches for your particular tightness or limitations.
